This page addresses issues with using version 4.x of Schoolhouse Fonts for Windows.

How do I use the Print and Cursive fonts?

You can use word processing applications and desktop publishing applications to create worksheets using the fonts. Simply choose the Print or Cursive fonts from the Font menu and start typing. Zaner-Bloser® style font names begin with “SigA” in the Font menu, and D’Nealian® style font names begin with “SigB” in the Font menu. See all font names.

Lined Spaces: To get lined spaces in between words using ‘Line’ fonts, simply type the accent key ( ` ) in the top left corner of your keyboard (next to the number 1).

To create blank lines for writing practice (in ‘Line’ fonts only):
Use the accent key ( ` ) to create lines across the page.

How do I use the Connected fonts in Word 2002–2003?

The vLetter Toolbar for Word can connect the letters together. This is required for the SigAConnect, SigAConnectLn, SigBConnect, and SigBConnectLn fonts. See the vLetter Toolbar for Word in action.

vLetter Toolbar Settings1. Click the Settings button on the Toolbar.
2. Pick a Connect font from the Settings window, set the font size, and click OK.
3. Type in plain text first, like Times New Roman
(do a spell check at this point).
4. Highlight the text.
5. Click the Handwriting button to convert the plain text to connected writing.
6. To go from connected writing back to plain text, highlight the connected text and click the Plain Text button on the Toolbar.

How do I use it in Word 2007–2010?

The vLetter Toolbar is now located on the Add Ins tab inside Word 2007–2010. You can use the same steps above to make the letters connect in Word.

If you obtained your vLetter software prior to January 2007, you will need to download the vLetter Toolbar update in order to install it for Word 2007 (or to update software obtained prior to July 2010 for Word 2010).vLetter Toolbar in Word 2007

 

 

 

 

Once it is installed, follow these steps to enable the toolbar:

1. Start Word, and then go to the Add Ins tab.
2. Click on the Security Warning that is beneath the vLetter Toolbar, at the top of the blank document.
3. Click the option to “Trust all documents from this publisher,” then click OK.

Alternate method to enable the Toolbar:
1. Word 2007: Click on the Office Button, then choose Word Options at the bottom.
Word 2010: Click on the File tab (top left), then choose Options (down by Exit).
2. Click on Trust Center at left, then click Trust Center Settings at right.
3. Under Macro Settings, choose the option to “Enable all macros,” then click OK. Quit Word, then restart it. The vLetter Toolbar should now be functioning.

How do I use the vLetterWriter?

You can use the vLetterWriter to create connected cursive text that can be copied and pasted into another document.
1. Go to Start > Programs > vLetter > vLetterWriter, or double-click the shortcut to the vLetterWriter that was installed onto your desktop.
2. Hit any key to open the Edit Window, and then type your text.
3. Click the “Click Here to View This Text as Handwriting” button.
4. Go to the Edit Letter menu, and select Copy as Text.
5. Go to your document (such as a Word document) and paste the text (Ctrl-V).

How do I use the SigSoft Handwriter?

You can use the SigSoft Handwriter to create connected cursive text in documents other than Word documents (you can also use it for Word, but the Toolbar is much easier).

1. Go to Start > Programs > vLetter > SigSoft Handwriter. Leave this open.
2. Type in your document in a plain font, like Times New Roman. Do a spell check if needed.
3. Highlight the text.
4. Go to the SigSoft handwriter, and choose the handwriting font and font size.
5. Set your document as the Source.
6. Click the W button to write the highlighted text into the handwriting font.
