Macintosh Schoolhouse Demo - Download and Installation Instructions
Please print this page for reference during the download and installation processes. Once you have downloaded the Set A or Set B demo, follow the instructions below to install the demo. Be sure to read all the information on this page before using the Demo Fonts. Please note that these demo version fonts have the lowercase "a" replaced with the word "demo."
The Demo Schoolhouse Fonts consist of 18 fonts in each collection. There are two collections to choose from.
SET A is designed after the Zaner-Bloser (Z-B) style of handwriting. Set A demo fonts are named "DMOAprint," "DMOAcursive," etc.
SET B is designed after the D'Nealian (D'N) style of handwriting. Set B demo fonts are named "DMOBprint," "DMOBcursive," etc.
INSTALLATION for OSX
The downloaded file is a stuffed package, containing all the files needed for installation.
You need the FREE StuffIt Expander to expand the files. If you do not have it, you can download it from this link: http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/
TO INSTALL:
1) Close all open applications.
2) Double-click on the downloaded file "SchoolhouseDemoZBOSX.sit" or "SchoolhouseDemoDNOSX.sit" to expand the files.
3) A folder named "SchoolhouseDemoZBOSX" or "SchoolhouseDemoDNOSX" will be created on your desktop.
4) Open the folder and double click on the Easy Install icon.
5) Click "Accept" to install the Schoolhouse Fonts Demo, or "Decline" to quit the installation process.
6) Once the software is installed, restart your computer.
AFTER INSTALLATION:
- Read the "SchoolhouseDemo OSX Read Me.pdf" file in the "SchoolhouseDemo..OSX" folder for instructions and general information about using Schoolhouse Fonts. There is also information about installing and uninstalling individual fonts, connecting the letters in the connected-cursive fonts, and accessing special characters such as lined spaces and accented characters.
- Choose printed and non-connected cursive fonts right from the Font menu. All fonts that don't have the word "Connect" in their names (16 of the 18 fonts in this collection) may be used by simply choosing them in the Font menu and typing the desired text.
- Use the vLetter Handwriter utility to connect letters in connected-cursive fonts. The two connected-cursive fonts in this set, fonts with the word "Connect" in their name (e.g. "DMOBConnect..."), require the use of the vLetter Handwriter utility to connect the letters. Instructions for use of the vLetter Handwriter are in the "vLetter Help.pdf" in the "SchoolhouseDemo..OSX" folder.

INSTALLATION for OS9
The downloaded file is a stuffed package, containing all the files needed for installation. It should automatically expand after downloading if you have Stuffit Expander on your Mac. If it did not expand after download, double-click the .sit file to expand it.
You need the FREE StuffIt Expander to expand the files. If you do not have it, you can download it from this link: http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/
FIRST:
Double-click the folder "SchoolhouseDemoZBOS9" or "SchoolhouseDemoDNOS9" that is created; then double-click the folder "Fonts."
THEN:
Install the Schoolhouse Fonts and the SigSoft Handwriter Utility:
1) Copy the font suitcases of the fonts you wish to use into the Fonts Folder in the System Folder.
2) Copy the SigSoft Handwriter utility into a new folder you create on your hard drive called "Signature Software." Also copy the two help files "SigSoft Handwriter Help" and "SchoolHouse User's Guide" into the same "Signature Software" folder.
3) If you please, create an alias for the SigSoft Handwriter in your Apple Menu. This makes it convenient for starting the SigSoft Handwriter when you want to connect letters in the two connected-cursive fonts in each set.
